Chapter 9: The Prohibition Of Letting One's Garment Drag Out Of Pride, And The Extent To Which It Is Permissible To Let It Hang Down And The Extent To Which It Is Recommended
باب تَحْرِيمِ جَرِّ الثَّوْبِ خُيَلاَءَ وَبَيَانِ حَدِّ مَا يَجُوزُ إِرْخَاؤُهُ إِلَيْهِ وَمَا يُسْتَحَبّ
Sahih Muslim 2085 e
Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said
He who trailed his garment out of pride, Allah would not look toward him on the Day of Resurrection.وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمًا، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلاَءِ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
